Just a Quick Mother’s Day Update

Mother’s Day from 2017-2021 was kind of a null holiday for me. I missed my mom and hadn’t had my daughter yet so it was just another day on the calendar.

This is my baby’s fourth Mother’s Day and now that she’s three, she’s starting to kiiinda understand holidays. We had a countdown to Easter but then the day after, she asked if it was Easter yet. So it’s a work in progress.

On Friday, she gave me the card they made at daycare. It was, of course, precious.

Her budding artistic skills are unprecedented.

We got in the car, I opened it up, and immediately started laughing uncontrollably. The teachers asked the kids what they were thankful for their mothers for and this was my child’s response:

Upon further clarification, she meant she’s thankful that I let her have a treat from her candy jar after dinner…so I hope the teachers don’t think I’m just filling her with sugar and sending her to their classroom.

And then my whole self melted because she finished her explanation with, “And I made her draw a heart because I love you so much.”

I knew being a mom was going to be difficult, but I never understood how much these moments make it worth it.
